THE BAILOUT

I am in principle opposed to the proposed bailout of Wall Street, which, all else aside, is exactly what the bailout is. If there were to be some sort of government program to stabilize the economy, it should be a program of guaranteed low interest loans to help morgatees maintain their mortgages. If the crisis has in fact been caused by the loss of the income to lending institutions because of payment defaults, then supporting these mortgages should eliminate the problem. Obviously there is more to to than what is being publicly disseminated. ........................

Iraq

We must end our military presence as soon as is physically possible; pack our equipment and go. Our responsibility now is to take care of the men and women who served there ........................

The Economy

Kill two birds with one stone... End the War in Iraq and save the economy ............................................. Good paying manufacturing jobs can be developed regionally through the promotion of new industries; energy production - either through crops, reclaimed, or recycled waste, or other alternatives. We may have to look at GATT, NAFTA and tax and tariff policies.

When the colonists rebelled against the King of England, they also rebelled against the Church of England, which at the time were one and the same. After their victory, the Americans were adamant that government and church would never again be combined. I concur in this very dominant piece of the American creed. ............................

The abortionissue is a mix of questions of personal morality, religious beliefs, medical and health considerations, and individual rights to privacy. No answer should be imposed by government - anyone should likewise be free to express an opinion and have their views heard.

Immigration

Enforce & Reform Immigration Laws. The U.S. borders must be secured and our neighbor countries made to accept their responsibility to help us stem the tide of illegal immigrants. A guest worker program should be considered, allowing those who are already here and have jobs to remain for a limited time.

Education

I believe that only the local jurisdictions can make decisions as to what will be taught in our schools. The role of the Federal government must be limited to providing additional funds for areas which are truly poor. That is certainly needed in many of our areas. However, it is totally inappropriate for the federal government to mandate the curriculum of an individual school or school district....

The Environment

Deficit Spending

Government budgets that leave major expenditures "off budget" and ignore accrual accounting principles are a sure path to economic disaster. The “Cut Taxes & Spend” policy has made us a debtor nation. The Fiscal Year 2005 true deficit of $750 Billion alone amounted to $156,000 of debt for every man, woman and child in America. The U.S. debt, totalled with the recent "Fed Bail-Outs" totals a realistic 15 Trillion Dollars

Energy

There is much work to be done in Washington to coordinate an effective energy policy. As a private citizen and a member of the Citizens Advisory Committee to the Regional Planning and Transportation Office I am spearheading an initiative to create a state / federally funded Bio-Fueled Mass Transit Demonstration Project.
